Where’s Cait Been?

I realize once again that I have been slacking on keeping up with my blog. And for that, I do apologize. Between work, kids, and life in general, I feel like I just cannot keep up with my life these days. And, I have also picked up a new hobby in the meantime. I have been wanting to learn how to macrame for quite some time now.

My loving husband got me a bunch of cord, beads, hoops, and all kinds of things to get started. Since then I have been teaching myself how to macrame by watching videos, reading, and of course checking out a bunch of things on Pinterest. (I love Pinterest guys!) Now, I am not going to say the doing macrame is hard, but they definitely make it look a lot easier in videos.

I struggled greatly whenever I first got started. I was constantly tying knots, taking them apart, tying more knots, and then taking them back apart again. It was very difficult to start a section over again too, since I will still learning how to make certain knots. So, this made it extremely hard for me to figure out where and how I messed up, and exactly what I needed to do to fix it.

Now, fast forward a few weeks, I am starting to get the hang of it. I am able to pick out my mistakes, and I am easily figuring out how to fix them. I won’t say that it is getting easier, because it is definitely still a challenge for me, but I am getting a lot faster at it. But it really does take a lot of patience. Sometimes I have to step away from it for a minute to gather my thoughts, lol. Another thing is too, I always hang what I am working on up on the wall. Which means I am standing the entire time that I am working on them. I made one last night that took me the ENTIRE evening. I mean seriously, it had to of taken me at least 4-5 hours. I am still young, but man, did I feel like an old lady after that!

While I don’t feel like I have made anything extremely amazing yet, I feel like I am slowly getting there. A dream of mine is to definitely be able to work for myself one day and to be able to make my own schedule. I am VERY thankful to have a job, but it would be amazing to do something that I love. And who knows, maybe macrame will give me that freedom someday.

I have had a ton of fun learning macrame so far. I have invested most of my spare time lately just creating random pieces and learning different tricks. I will honestly tell you that I have been creating so many random pieces, that my living room is literally full of macrame. Every wall has something hanging on it. I do plan to sell my little creations that I have made so far. And I have even been considering creating an Etsy account to list my pieces on there also. I have been doing a little bit of creepin’ on different Etsy accounts, just to get an idea of what people are selling, and the prices that they are listed at to get an idea.

I have already had friends buy a couple of pieces from me and I am so thankful for them! I really love all of the support that I get from everyone. I have obviously added a few pictures to this post of some things that I have created so far. If you are interested in seeing any more, I have added them to my Instagram account, and you are welcome to give me a follow and keep up with my creations there. And, if you have any questions, input, inquiries, etc. don’t hesitate to reach out! I am always happy to hear feedback and I would definitely love to create something for you if you are at all interested!
