Lazy Days

I know I am not the only one that enjoys a lazy day. Don’t get me wrong, it drives me absolutely NUTS when my house needs to be cleaned. And of course, as parents, even when we don’t feel well, we still feel obligated to get up and clean the house.

But I am here to tell you that you are allowed to relax! I am still learning how to overcome wanting to clean the house every second of my life. But it is okay to have lazy days, because sometimes, we just need to take a break.

Those super rainy days are the best days to be lazy. I am the worst when it comes to rainy days, because I always think “Today would be a perfect day to clean the house.” But why not relax? Stay indoors with your family. Make some comfort food and watch some TV together.

And if you don’t feel well, just RELAX! I have to tell myself that over and over. The house can be cleaned tomorrow. Lay down on the couch, snuggle with your little ones, and watch that movie. The world is not going to end if you don’t clean the house TODAY.

Stop worrying about that pile of laundry. Take the day off from cleaning. Sit down with your family and do the things that you love together. Whether that may be watching a movie, baking, or even playing games. My oldest son loves to play board games now. They are perfect for relaxing while still spending time with your kiddos.

This past weekend I was not feeling the greatest. I tried to clean, and I even started working on my son’s Halloween costume. I kept thinking to myself, “Why? Why am I like this? Just lay down!” I finally gave up and laid on the couch for the rest of the day. And for the first time in a long time, my husband didn’t have a million things going on, so we were able to sit around and be lazy as a family. We were able to lay around and watch movies, which we often don’t have time to do anymore. It was so nice.

Sometimes we forget to slow down and take time to enjoy life. Adulting requires so much, and we often get lost in the day to day routine. It is important find time to set aside specifically for you and your family. Because you know what? Your kids don’t care what your house looks like. So leave the dishes and relax. Enjoy your family time.
